Voorheesville is the hometown of Business for Good (BFG) co-Founder Ed Mitzen, who saw an opportunity to make this neighborhood a thriving economic destination. The result of this community development? Two brand new eateries—both named after the town’s high school mascot.
Blackbirds Bike Cafe employs locally and contributes to the Main Street corridor. All profits are donated to the Business for Good Foundation to fund high school sports, activities, and programs in Voorheesville and nearby towns. The Cafe serves pastries, coffee, and sandwiches, as well as healthy smoothies and acai bowls.
Blackbirds Tavern is a joint venture between Ed & Lisa Mitzen of BFG, and Druthers Brewing Company. Proceeds from Blackbirds Tavern will also be donated to the Business for Good Foundation and put back into the Voorheesville community. The Tavern has a contemporary feel, homey menu, and state-of-the-art event space.
